The EC360® SHIM series introduces copper shims for use with GPUs, RAM chips and other components. Shims can be used to apply pressure onto a chip or as a thermal pad for bridging a gap. As the required thickness of the shim is dependent on the size of the gap it is required to carefully estimate the size of the gap, which sometimes involves trying out shims of different thicknesses.
Common applications are laptop or PC repair, in particular for failures regarding the GPU or VGA-RAM of the graphics card.
Installation Recommendation: Apply a thin layer of thermal paste to the chip and the heatsink. Then place the shim on the chip and install the heatsink.
